This week's Ballers are the teenage rap group X-10 from Montpelier High School Vermont that put together the environmental rap video "802". The students thought to use music to lobby lawmakers about climate change, particularly by urging them to override Governor Jim Douglas' veto of H. 520, a bill that calls for a new energy efficiency program to combat global warming.

So, for stepping up and dropping knowledge in their own fresh style, the Envirolution tips its hat to X-10

THE ORGANIZATION:

Envirolution is a community of Individuals, Businesses and Organizations Intent on Advancing Sustainability.

As an organization, Envirolution simply seeks to help facilitate and accelerate this larger movement. By educating, uniting and inciting action among new and old participants in the sustainability movement. We encourage everyone to work together to use their individual and collective skills, talents, passions, and experience to find and implement sustainable solutions.

Goals:

* Provide the platform, forum, and network for anyone to contribute
* Empower the youth to be participants and leaders in the movement
* Engage businesses to find & implement sustainable practices
* Supply the umbrella organization to facilitate collaboration in the movement

Green Festivals are a celebration of what’s working in our communities– for people, for businesses and for the environment.

A joint project of two national nonprofit organizations, Global Exchange and Co-op America, Green Festivals bring together local and national socially responsible businesses, and environmental, social justice and community organizations. Hundreds of thousands of concerned individuals over the years have attended these “parties with a purpose” aimed at forging a just, sustainable, inclusive economy – a green economy.

Upcoming Green Festivals:

Spoken word, freestyle, poetry, anything…. Step up, the mic is yours.

One of the easiest things that we can do to LIVE IT is make the switch over to renewable energy. In most places, it's really as easy as a couple clicks on a website, and usually doesn't cost more than $5-$10 extra a month (a small price to pay to help thrust renewable energy into the mainstream!!).
